So your cheat day transformed into a cheat week, or even a cheat month. Can we guess that you’re feeling a little guilty? Please do not do so.
Some people have never even begun a diet or a healthy lifestyle in the first place; you are already doing well just by attempting! Let’s get you back on track so you can keep being fabulous.
The Infamous Snack Trap
Don’t allow yourself to fall into the trap of “Oh well, I’ve cheated, now it’s back to square one. I’ll resume on Monday.”
Why put it off until Monday? Monday becomes the next day, which becomes the following week, and so on.
If you fall off the wagon, don’t say you’ll start again on Monday; start now. It’s ok! That way, you don’t set yourself back by days, but instead by 1 cheat meal.
Work It Off
This includes negative emotions! Get your body moving and your favorite exercises to burn off those extra calories. Instead of your usual 30-minute walk, take a 45-minute walk. It will make you feel better and help you get back on track.
But don’t overdo it; overdoing can result in injury or stiffness the next day, making it difficult to walk from your bed to the shower. That will discourage you from continuing your activity, so do a little more and push a little harder rather than popping a valve trying to burn off that takeaway burger.
Resort to Drinking
Water is always recommended for healthy skin, weight loss, organ health, and overall body wellness. Increase your water intake to flush out some toxins. If you don’t like water, experiment with different teas (without added sugar) to create a healthy flavored drink to sip throughout the day.
Being kind to yourself is an important part of living a healthy lifestyle. Remember, you began this journey because you believe you deserve to be healthy and happy. Speak nicely to yourself, even when you falter; a positive mindset is just as important as a healthy diet and routine.
